A key fell off the laptop keyboard. How to fix it?

We often meet the case that one or more keys fell off the laptop keyboard, but we are not sure how to fix the problem. Keyboards are all different, here, I will show you how to handle it . Here are two cases:

1. If the key cap and key retainer fell off the keyboard, you can just remove the cap from any other working key, but please make sure that key retainer stays connected to the keyboard at four different points. Put the disconnected retainer back as the ones in good condition. And the key cap should be also assembled.
2. The key fell off the keyboard and you lost the cap or the retainer. Just purchase a single key.
Put it back as I have shown before.
However, if you need to install the space bar key, that is not so easy.

Use a flathead screwdriver to separate the metal retainer from the space bar key. (on some keyboard models, there is no metal retainer connected to the space bar key. ) Put the retailer back, and make sure that you have engaged the retainer with the small hooks on the keyboard. Press on the space bar key gently to check whether it has been in place.
That’s OK. If it still does not work, you’d better get a new keyboard.
