Successor to the one year old Canon EOS 40D, Canon EOS 50D digital camera is in hot sale in digital camera market. Are you interested in it, let us have a breif review:

• 1.81 pounds (822g) with battery and card, but no lens

• 3.0-inch LCD with 920,000 pixels
• Top Status LCD
• ISO range from 100 to 12,800
• Shutter speeds 30 seconds to 1/8,000
• Compact Flash Type I and II UDMA slots
• Lithium-ion battery
Though Canon EOS 50D digital camera and 40D look virtually identical on the outside, but offers a number of important improvements. Aside from the bump to 15 megapixels from the 40D’s 10 megapixels, the most apparent addition is Creative Auto, a new semimanual mode with capabilities you can view as an advanced Auto mode or dumbed-down Program mode, depending upon your viewpoint. Notably, it replaces shutter and aperture adjustment options with two sliding scales–Exposure (brighter/darker) and Background (blurred/sharp)–that implicitly adjust shutter speed and aperture. While it’s an interesting idea, it seems too much of a newbie feature to put on the 50D. The Rebel series seems far more appropriate. In CA mode you can also can select single, continuous, or self-timer shooting; Picture Style; photo size and quality; and flash mode (auto, on or off).
Pros: Excellent 15.1 megapixel sensor with very low noise and superb detail
ISO 100 to 1,600 usable at 13×19 inches
Dust removal technology reduces sensor cleaning chores
High-resolution 3.0-inch LCD makes checking focus and composing in Live View an excellent experience
Status display includes more detail
Excellent performance and photo quality; solid, comfortable shooting design.
Cons: Auto-rotation doesn’t play well with all computer programs
Soft images with the 28-135mm kit lens; demands very good optics
Kit lens doesn’t really reach wide angle
Indoor white balance is a little yellow
Battery capacity is reduced from the larger screen and dust off system
Autofocus sometimes just seeks and seeks
In summary, though a little expensive, ( $1000 is not a low price) the Canon EOS 50D is a well-made camera with controls aimed firmly at serious photographers. At first glance very similar to the previous 40D model, the EOS 50D offers a number of well-thought-out features and handling improvements that add up to make a significant difference.
